We made it to a brand new year, guys! I’m bursting with joy! Can you tell it’s gonna be an awesome year? I’m usually not really one for making resolutions off yuletide sentiments, but 2016 has me all up in my feels. I know you’re busy with all your festivities, so I’ll get right to it.
Spiritually – Last year, I got closer to God and I can confidently say Ii took a giant leap faith-wise and reaped massive rewards. This year, I’d like to get a lot closer and relate with God on a more personal level. My pastor always says “God is not a bablawao”; I’d like to not only turn to him when I need something.
Emotionally – Mostly because I realized last year that I’ve lost a lot of control where handling my emotions is concerned. I used to be extremely stable and be able to check myself when I needed to. I’d like to get back to that.
Mentally – More books, more videos about stuff I don’t think I’m interested in, more open to trying new things, and, most importantly, more decisive – because I too have grown weary of my irritating indecisiveness.
Learn a new skill
Drawing. I am tired of getting jealous of all these artists flaunting their work on Instagram and twitter. Me too, I want to flaunt. In JS1 I actually got a book to learn to draw – How To Draw Anything by Mark Linley – but my mother wasn’t very encouraging about my interest in the matter. This year, I’m going back to the sketch book.
Develop three other skills
Writing: So far, I have three major sites I am actively engaged writing on – sweetheart, albimazing, and sotectonic (starting next week) – but I can do much more. My creative writing has taken a large hit over the last three years and it saddens me because creative writing is my soul. I am actually asking for help here. Help me get back to writing stories again. I will be trying, but if you can help in anyway – giving me prompts or projects to help with, I will be grateful.
Crotchet & Graphic Design – Because I actually really enjoy doing it and I’d like to be better than mediocre at it. Also, graphic design comes in handy from time to time.
Be a better friend
People have been so amazing to me, especially in the last year, and I’ve been so caught up in my own stuff I’ve taken most of them for granted. This year, I’m taking time to make sure my friends know how much they mean to me. So, get ready for a lot of Coco this year. I’ve drawn up a timetable and everything! 😀
Be better at reaching goals
There’s so much I hope to do this year, and I need you guys to kick my ass about it.
Blogging: I have mandated myself to put up posts at least three days a week. In addition to this, I am officially opening up the Albimazing People section of the blog. I’m going to be focusing on Albinos who I think are amazing in their lifestyle and career. I will also feature people who may not be albino but are also young and inspirational. This new year, I’m looking to collaborate with Nigerian brands, designers, bakers, photographers, and any Nigerian who has something they would like to share with the world basically. If you think you’d love to work with me on a project, holla at me.
Vlogging: I’ve played around with this idea a lot, mostly because of content. I’m putting the final things and place and I should officially start vlogging this year. The year 2016 is THE year, and I’m excited about it. You should be too. I wish I could give more about it away, but I’m going out of my way to be pretty hush-hush about it.
The Albimazing Box: I’m starting a subscription box service this year. The technicalities are still trying to be elusive, but I have made myself promise I should have all the nuts screwed in properly by March. I hope y’all patronize your sister when I start pushing them out.
Alright guys! You can go back to your chicken now. Thank you for reading. See you on the flip side!
